A cover letter generator that writes for the job in front of you
Letters written from your real experience and the posting, addressed to a person when you know one, and opening on something you actually did. Not “I am writing to apply for…”

How it works
- 01
Start from your profile
Your career history is entered once and used for every letter, so nothing has to be typed out twice.
- 02
Add the job and the reader
The job title, company and description, the hiring manager's name if you found it, and any notes about the company.
- 03
Choose tone and length
Formal, conversational or bold. Short, standard or detailed. Targeted at one employer, or general enough to reuse.
- 04
Edit and download
Change anything you like, rewrite one paragraph at a time, then download it as a PDF.
Why most cover letters get skimmed
Hiring managers read the same three openings all day: “I am writing to apply for…”, “I am excited to submit my application…” and “With eight years of experience as a…”. All are true, and none gives anyone a reason to keep reading. The resume already says them.
This generator opens on the most relevant thing you've actually done, stated plainly, and names the role naturally in the first paragraph. Then it picks the one accomplishment that best matches what the job asks for and gives it room to be a short story: what was at stake, what you did, and what changed.
Three tones, one standard
Formal is traditional and polished, the safest choice for conservative industries. Conversational is warm and direct, and works for most modern employers. Bold is confident and punchy, and stands out at startups.
Whichever you pick, the letter still leads with a result and still ends on substance rather than “Thank you for your time and consideration.” Formality belongs in the sentences, not in a courteous nothing at the end.
Targeted or general
A targeted letter names the employer and can draw on notes you add about the company, using a specific fact as evidence of fit rather than praise. A general letter stays employer-neutral, so you can send it more than once.
Either way, it is written only from your career profile. It doesn't invent achievements, award you adjectives, or claim experience you don't have.

Common questions
- Does the cover letter generator make anything up?
- No. It writes only from your career profile and the job you give it. It will not add an accomplishment, a skill or a number you have not supplied, and it will not praise the company in terms it cannot back up. If you add notes about the company, it uses them as specific evidence rather than flattery.
- Who should the letter be addressed to?
- A person, if you can find one. Add the hiring manager's name and the letter opens with it. If you can't find a name, it opens with “Dear Hiring Manager,” and never “To Whom It May Concern,” which reads as a letter sent to nobody in particular.
- How long should a cover letter be?
- Usually one page. Choose Short (150-220 words), Standard (250-400 words) or Detailed (400-550 words). Detailed suits senior roles and career changes, where there is more of a case to make. A letter shorter than its target is better than one padded to reach it, so it never adds filler to hit a word count.
- Can I write one letter and reuse it?
- Yes. A general letter stays employer-neutral so you can send it more than once. A targeted letter names the employer and makes the case for that one job, and is the stronger choice for any role you really want.
- Will a hiring manager be able to tell it was written with AI?
- Nobody can promise that, and you should read every letter before you send it. What we can tell you is what the generator avoids: the openings and closings every reader has seen a hundred times, the self-awarded adjectives (“highly motivated”, “proven track record”, “passionate about”) and padded sentences. It opens on something you actually achieved and closes on something only you could write.
- Can I edit the letter after it's written?
- Yes. Edit it directly, or ask for a single paragraph to be rewritten without touching the rest. When you're happy with it, download it as a PDF.
- How many cover letters can I write?
- The Starter plan includes 8 letters a month. Pro Job Seeker and Executive include cover letters as part of the plan's monthly allowance.
